A big THANK YOU to all of the members of our Scholls community and beyond who came out in droves to visit the annual Scholls Women’s Club Plant Sale despite the threatening clouds and intermittent sprinkles! We had a great turnout from club sisters and community members alike.
Volunteers from our club and from the community spent months planning and organizing in anticipation of our annual sale. Under the guidance of team leader Jenna Bayer, club members spent the weeks leading up to the sale acquiring and tagging plants, preparing them for the sale. It worked out well for us this year that Hillsboro Schools had Friday off, and so we were able to complete set-up by approximately 6pm rather than our usual practice of beginning set-up after school.
The rain kept itself reasonably at bay throughout the weekend, although there were several moments during which we were grateful for the tents we’d set up for cover! Both Saturday and Sunday saw a steady stream of customers, some of whom spent time leisurely perusing the plants, while others knew upon arrival which plants they wanted to find. SWC sisters were on hand for assistance in selection, help carrying to the car, and in many cases, joyful conversation.
We were excited this year to be able to accept credit and debit cards in addition to our cash and check standbys. Thanks to all of our friends and community members for your patience as we experimented with this new venture!
The plant sale is a fundraising event that the sisters of the Scholls Women’s Club look forward to each spring – we love connecting with our friends and neighbors, and sharing our love of community through gardening is especially rewarding. The proceeds from our sale go directly towards our mission of doing good in our beloved community of Scholls.
If you missed the sale or are wishing that you would have picked up just one or two more tomato plants, it’s not too late! We have quite a few plants left over from the sale and will continue to sell until they are gone! Please contact email@example.com for more information.
